Here's the scoop...

News

In this column I'll include any breaking news, such as information on upcoming plot developments, new additions to the cast, or talk show appearances.

Patti D'Arbanville is kicked out the door!

You don't know how sorry I am to report this, but Patti D'Arbanville, who plays Selena, has been let go from her role! I personally LOVE Selena (and especially the plot that was devloping between her and Blake!) and I also love Patti. Afterall, she shares the same birthday as I do! Anyway, this is the letter she posted to fans on her official message board earlier this week:

"I
thought that I would take this opportunity to be the first to let all of you
know that I will be leaving the show in October. Many factors have entered
into this decision, and although I am saddened, I only want what is best for
this show.I was let go gently and with great respect by our wonderful
producer Robert Kochman. He is such a gentleman. I have the utmost respect
for him , he did it with grace and love. My character it seems, has been
written into a corner and our new writers were at odds as to how to resolve
it. I guess it just all boils down to story and what propels the show along
or what hinders it. I will miss everyone so much....I had a wonderful time
there and the GL family has helped me through some really difficult times. I
will remember this always as one of the bright points in my life. I feel
that the show allowed me to do some of the best work in my career and it was
always a joy and a challenge. I want to say right now that I have NEVER felt
so much warmth from fans as I have felt with you. You are a joy to me.And I
am honored that I was able to entertain you for the time that we had. Thank
you SOO much for all of your support through these last two and a half
years. We have had some crazy times and I will never forget any of you. I
hope that we get to stay in touch and that you will watch for me in my other
endeavors. I will be thinking of you. With All My Love, Patti"

Good luck, Patti. You will surely be missed!!

Joie Lenz is leaving!

Joie Lenz (Michelle Bauer Santos) has decided not to renew her contract with CBS when it expires sometime in October. Joie will leave the show in October, and the role will be recast. But don't look for Rebecca Budig or Rachel Minor, who previously played Michelle, to come back. Rebecca is currently on All My Children . We will surely miss Joie, but here at Springfield we all wish her the best of luck in whatever she decides to do next!

Laura Wright is pregnant! Yup, you read that right. SoapCity reports: "Congratulations to Laura Wright (Cassie, Guiding Light) and her husband, John. The happy couple just announced that they are expecting another baby this winter. This makes the second addition to the Wright household. They have a daughter, Lauren, who is 18 months old. If they decide to wright Laura's pregnancy into the GL plot, it would give Cassie and Richard a royal heir."

GOSSIP!

Here I'll include some of the jucier stuff I hear. No guarantee of the accuracy of anything you read in this column!

Hayden Panettiere (Lizzie) MAY be leaving Guiding Light this year. No word on whether or not it's official, but GL may be looking for a young girl to recast as Lizzie.

Be sure to let me know what you hear and I'll add it to this page!
